Karen Cooper turned to entrepreneurship about eight years ago as she sought to achieve greater balance in her life. Now her company, called SmartIT Staffing, has grown to include almost 50 employees. Other women who want to become entrepreneurs have to believe in themselves, she said. "Understand what your strengths and weaknesses are, and then hire or partner with qualified and experienced people who have proven, successful experience in the areas that you are lacking in," she said.
