Experts ID hurdles to improved data sharing with patients

A study in the Journal of the American Informatics Association showed cultural, legal and technical issues were among the top hurdles that health information exchanges face in improving  patient access to data. The greatest challenge, according to the researchers, was ensuring tools such as health records and portals meet the needs of both patients and providers.
