FAA rule on electronics could be powered down by shutdown

A government shutdown, which could start on Tuesday, could delay a Federal Aviation Administration change in rules to allow the use of personal electronic devices on flights. The Department of Transportation said "aviation rulemaking" is one of the FAA activities that would be suspended in case of a shutdown.
