NAD clears Qualcomm after native-advertising inquiry

National Advertising Division staff attorney Laura Brett wrote a letter to Qualcomm asking why the company had a "sponsored by" label removed from a 20-article series in Mashable. In the end, the NAD was satisfied with the response from Mashable that the publication had pitched the articles and was uninfluenced by the advertising for Qualcomm's Snapdragon. Brett added that the NAD "has been watching this conversation unfold and it looked like a good opportunity to explore how native advertising is evolving."
