Senator: More jobs needed for young workers with disabilities

U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, is calling for more internship and job-training opportunities for students with disabilities. Harkin also is encouraging more public-private involvement to add 250,000 young workers with disabilities to the workforce by 2016. Harkin worked with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to make employing more individuals with disabilities a goal, but workers ages 16 to 35 make up about only 6% of those with disabilities who are employed.
