Shale gas boom prompts LyondellBasell to move R&D center to Texas

The booming shale natural gas development in the U.S. prompted LyondellBasell to relocate its research and development facility from Philadelphia to Houston, said Jim Gallogly, the petrochemical firm's CEO. The shale gas boom increased the supplies of natural gas liquids, creating favorable conditions for the chemical industry. "We've had a phenomenal resurgence in the chemical world. Our company is also benefiting from that," Gallogly said.
