Shutdown will further hurt medical research, official says

Medical research will suffer as a result of the government shutdown, said Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. She told attendees of Association of American Cancer Institutes' annual meeting Monday that the shutdown will only exacerbate the effects of sequestration already felt in the scientific community.
