Study: Strong reading skills are linked to higher math, science performance

Strong reading skills can facilitate higher student achievement in math and science, according to an international study published by the TIMSS and PIRLS International Study Center. The study focused on fourth-grade students from 34 countries. The results offer a picture of best practices in reading, math and science education. For example, data show students perform better when they are clear about what teachers want from them and when concepts are presented in interesting ways.
