Twitch gets $20M to pursue live video-game play

Twitch, which offers an online platform for live streaming of video games, has raised $20 million in private equity funding from Thrive Capital, WestSummit Capital and Take-Two Interactive Software, among other investors. The startup says it has 45 million monthly unique viewers, up from 20 million a year ago. Those viewers can watch professional gamers compete in such titles as League of Legends. The Twitch service will be integrated into the forthcoming PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles.
