The gender gap in the business world persists despite the gains that women have made, and women are still underrepresented at the highest levels of corporate leadership. Experts have suggested a number of solutions to these problems, such as an expansion of maternity leave, but there is no easy fix, writes Eduardo Porter. Gender inequality remains even in countries that seem to have more family-friendly policies, he notes, and adds that according to Anne-Marie Slaughter, political scientist at Princeton, the cultural views of men need to change in order to close the gap.
