Swissair May Seek Government Bailout

Trading of shares of Swissair was suspended today on news that the carrier might seek aid from the Swiss government to stave off bankruptcy. A bankruptcy filing by Swissair would ripple through the European air transport system and could directly affect Belgian flag-carrier Sabena, in which Swissair is a major stakeholder. Two Swiss banks have come forward with potential aid packages.
