August sees 4% decline in construction starts

McGraw-Hill Construction said a slackened pace of nonresidential building in August contributed to a 4% dip in construction starts for that month. McGraw-Hill Construction's vice president for economic affairs noted that "total construction continues to move at a healthy pace ... and the broad trend for commercial building this year is generally upward."
