D.C. to adopt new learning standards

Yesterday, Superintendent Clifford B. Janey announced Washington, D.C., schools will choose between the highly praised, grade-by-grade learning standards used by California or Massachusetts and customize them to the District's needs. Board of Education President Peggy Cooper Cafritz praised the move as setting the foundation for reform.
