Farmers supports new side-impact safety rules

Farmers Insurance says the new motor vehicle safety standard for side impacts, announced by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration earlier this month, will save an estimated 300 lives a year. The new standard doesn't mandate specific technology, but it does require auto makers to use a dummy of a small woman in side-impact crash testing, as well as a more technically advanced dummy of a man of average height.
