Opinion: Parents need to back off with e-monitoring

Telephone and e-mail systems that automatically call parents when children have homework, tests or are late for class are the latest monitoring fad, writes Los Angeles Times columnist Sandy Banks. But they go too far, especially for high schoolers who will soon be expected to be fully responsible for themselves.
