Alabama county may file for biggest U.S. muni bankruptcy

Jefferson County, Alabama's most populous county, will miss an $83.5 million payment on bond debt. Betty Fine Collins, president of the Jefferson County Commission, said the county did not have cash to make the payment. The county could file for the biggest municipal bankruptcy in U.S. history within days.
