European politicians urge changes to fair-value accounting rules

French President Nicolas Sarkozy plans to call on his European counterparts to support changes to standards for fair-value accounting. David Cameron, head of the U.K.'s Conservative party, said the rules need to be reconsidered because they have added to the financial crisis. Politicians' opposition puts additional pressure on regulators and setters of accounting standards to back away from the rules.
