Executive order bans texting while driving for federal employees

President Barack Obama has signed an executive order banning all federal workers from sending text messages while driving government vehicles or private cars on official duty. "The federal government can and should demonstrate leadership in reducing the dangers of text messaging while driving," the order said. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said the practice has become a habit among many Americans, and his department is working "to change our culture to recognize that distracted driving is personally irresponsible and socially unacceptable behavior."
