Nebraska startup works on ethanol blend for diesel engines

CleanFlex Power Systems, a startup based in Lincoln, Neb., aims to decrease pollution and enhance the efficiency of diesel-powered vehicles by developing a fuel blend that uses ethanol and water. The firm presented a pickup with a retrofitted engine at a demonstration in Sioux Falls, S.D., and said the idea could also work for freight trains running on diesel. Bob Dickey, CleanFlex's chairman, said the company is discussing the concept with BNSF Railway and John Deere.
