President Barack Obama's decision to pull the plug on land-based missile defenses in Eastern Europe now looks prophetic, writes political columnist David Wood. Revelations of Iran's secret nuclear program, followed by tests of its short- and medium-range missiles, have shown the need for nimble, near-term defenses, rather than a cumbersome system at least nine years from deployment, he argues.
