Sales of potato chips soar during economic crunch

Sales of potato chips jumped 22% as the economy soured, according to Mintel, which expects the growth to moderate to about 3% a year over the next five years. The research firm says potato chips are seen as a good value and are part of a broader trend toward salty snacks, with 350 salty-snack launches in the U.S. so far this year.
