Construction crews reach light at end of San Pedro tunnel

Crews are set to break through the north end of the San Pedro Mountain tunnel, which they have been excavating for three years. "The guys who do the actual work every day will get their moment in the sun," said Bob Haus, a spokesman for the California Department of Transportation. The project represents the state's first highway tunnel since the third bore of the Caldecott Tunnel opened in 1964.
