Utica Shale to boost downstream wages, add indirect jobs

Shale natural gas drilling in the Utica Shale is expected to bring jobs in other fields, experts say. Wage growth is also expected in chemical manufacturing. "I think as we see the downstream side grow, as we see [natural gas] become more applicable to our daily lives, in those occupations that can be affected by the downstream side. That's where I think we'll see sustainable wage growth," said Robbie Matesic, an Ohio county economic-development official.
