Analysis: Risk of lowest Apgar score is higher with home births

Out-of-hospital births had significantly higher risks of five-minute Apgar scores of zero as well as neonatal seizures and serious neurologic dysfunction when compared with hospital births, according to a study in the American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology. Researchers analyzed data from 2007 to 2010 on almost 14 million full-term births.
