Asian-Pacific markets advance amid U.S. government shutdown

Many Asian-Pacific markets rose Tuesday after U.S. lawmakers failed to pass a spending bill, prompting the government to begin a partial shutdown. Japan's Nikkei 225 edged up 0.2%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index dropped 1.5%. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 slid 0.2%. China's Shanghai Composite rose 0.7%. South Korea's Kospi added 0.1%. India's Sensex was up 0.7%.
