BOEM chief: Government shutdown to have minimal impact on offshore oil, gas development

Offshore oil and natural gas development will proceed despite the shutdown of the federal government, said Tommy Beaudreau, director of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management. "All of (the safety bureau's) permitting personnel and the personnel involved in inspections are excepted, and so permitting will continue and inspections will continue. Environmental reviews on the other hand will be slowed," he said.
