Card companies propose tokens as mobile-payment security standard

Tokens that would be the digital equivalent of the magnetic stripes on bank cards are proposed by MasterCard, Visa and American Express as a way to improve mobile-payment security. "Mobile is the future. ... For the first time, we are laying down the foundation," said Jim McCarthy, Visa's global head of innovation and strategic partnerships.
