Health agency operations disrupted by government shutdown

The government shutdown halted operations of some health agencies, including the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, and the CDC. Although AHRQ will stop providing funds for medical research, it will continue projects under the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Trust Fund and development for the Children's Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act. Meanwhile, the CDC will end its seasonal influenza program and cease updates of disease treatment and prevention guidelines.
