Japan to proceed with sales-tax boost, stimulus spending

As expected, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe announced Japan will move forward with a consumption-tax increase in April accompanied by stimulus spending. The 8% tax, up from the current 5%, comes after recent economic data pointing to a more lively economy under "Abenomics."
