Linagliptin-insulin combo improves blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes

Taking linagliptin in addition to basal insulin was more effective than a placebo and insulin combination in controlling blood sugar levels for patients with type 2 diabetes, according to a study in the journal Diabetes Care. Sixteen percent of patients who took linagliptin attained an HbA1c of less than 7% after 52 weeks compared with 7% in the placebo group.
