NextGen air traffic system at risk, backers say

The NextGen system, which would modernize U.S. air traffic control, is under threat from the budget choices being made during sequestration, backers of the project fear. Budget priority-setting, says Aerospace Industries Association President and CEO Marion Blakey, could "be a vehicle to take things apart." The NextGen Advisory Committee has created a list of priorities for NextGen work, but Blakey and others say such an effort undermines the vision for NextGen. "We really do have to make sure that things continue to track in a logical [way] and not start pushing things off the table," she says.
