Petco's new strategy revolves around pets as family

Petco is revamping advertising and more to cater to owners' increasing tendencies to treat pets as family members. The new promotions include "Star Wars"-themed costumes, specialty foods, boarding and veterinary services. "Pet owners are very concerned these days with ingredient panels and ensuring that the best quality of items are in their foods," Petco CEO Jim Myers said. "There's a lot more awareness of pet allergies and things that can help improve the skin and coat of your animal."
