Risk of diabetes higher for many Mexican-American children

Fifty-three percent of Mexican-American children were overweight or obese, while 13% had prediabetes and 19% had metabolic syndrome, a study of 670 children between the ages of 6 and 17 showed. Most of the children studied were from lower-income families. The results were published in the journal Human Genetics.
