Shutdown forcing aviation inspectors off the job

The Federal Aviation Administration will furlough almost 3,000 workers who inspect planes, airports and airline repair stations for safety, says the union for such workers, the Professional Aviation Safety Specialists. The union decried the move, part of the government shutdown, saying it threatens airline safety. The FAA would not comment on specific furloughs.
