Va. district changes school culture to embrace innovation

Public schools in Albemarle County, Va., are seen as models of tailoring the school culture to foster innovation, a shift away from the factory school model considered no longer relevant to the needs of the current workforce. Among other things, the district has embraced a philosophy of continuous learning, maker spaces, focused on strong leadership and integrated technology across the 13,200-student district.
