Louisiana voters approve overhaul of levee oversight

Louisiana voters on Saturday approved a plan to overhaul levee oversight. As a result, the levee boards in Orleans Parish will not have oversight after Jan. 1 and will be replaced by two new regional boards. One board will oversee storm protection in two parishes, while the other regulates levees and flood and hurricane protection in all or parts of seven parishes east of the Mississippi River.
