The overall media revenue of the 100 leading U.S. media companies reached a record $287 billion in 2006, an 8.1% spike from the previous year, due in part to a spate of mergers and acquisitions, according to Advertising Age's "100 Leading Media Companies" report. Time Warner still holds the topmost spot among the top 100 companies, with an 11.8% share of the total revenue of these firms.
