Md. stem cell fund seeks grant applications, warns of budget cuts

The Maryland Stem Cell Commission is seeking applications for research grants, but it said that its $19 million fund could be reduced as Gov. Martin O'Malley plans to announce budget cuts at a Board of Public Works meeting. Leaders of the bioscience sector, however, underscored the significance of stem cell funding in advancing the industry and maintaining the state's competitiveness.
