Japan's Uniqlo reports same-store sales soar 31.6%

Fast Retailing said its casual-clothing chain Uniqlo enjoyed a 31.6% increase in same-store sales in September compared with the previous year. The jump, the largest in 10 months, came despite continued weakness in consumer spending. Cold weather was cited as one reason for the boost in sales as consumers flocked to flannel shirts, synthetic leather jackets and other autumn clothing.
