Obesity raises risk of having baby with heart defect

Overweight or obese women who become pregnant are 18% to 30% more likely to have babies born with congenital heart defects, a CDC report said. Researchers said problems included obstructive defects on the right side of the heart and defects in the tissue between the heart's two upper chambers.
