House GOP eyes level funding of highway programs

House Republicans said they are now open to look for ways to pay for a six-year transportation and infrastructure program, which is what the Obama administration and Senate Democrats had favored. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman John Mica, R-Fla., is reportedly working on a transportation plan that would meet today's spending levels. "I think it's very good news that they're talking about a current level of funding," Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., said. "I would be thrilled if there was an offset that made a lot of sense to move forward."
