Soybean oil is a component in foam of new Focus model

BASF and Ford Motor have partnered to come up with a soybean-based urethane foam for the instrument panel of the 2012 Ford Focus sedan. The foam component produced from soybean oil is "the industry's first seamless soft-touch instrument panel that's stronger, better-looking and better on the environment. Castor oil from plants helps deliver sustainable interior foam that reduces petroleum use," said Bari Brown of Ford.
