AAP creates guidelines for hospital medicine programs

In addition to meeting the specific needs of patients within the community, pediatric hospital medicine programs should be guided by data collection and outcome-based evaluations, according to a policy statement issued by AAP in the journal Pediatrics. The expertise of pediatric hospitalists should widen to include areas such as quality, safety, performance management and leadership, the group also said.
