CAP participation in emergency flights is not affected by shutdown

The Civil Air Patrol participates in 90% of domestic search-and-rescue and other disaster response flights annually. During the shutdown of the federal government, it will continue flights authorized by the Air Force. "The Air Force depends on Civil Air Patrol to perform these critical missions," said CAP National Commander Maj. Gen. Chuck Carr.
