E-Verify site closes due to federal shutdown

A federal online program that checks the legal status of prospective employees has been closed due to the government shutdown. The E-Verify system is used by more than 409,000 employers to check the immigration status of potential hires, and its closure could create challenges for these businesses. Some states, including Utah and Arizona, require companies to use E-Verify when hiring.
