Focus turns from U.S. government shutdown to debt-limit debate

Incentive to resolve the self-imposed U.S. debt crisis may be hindered by the fact that U.S. and global markets are so far taking the partial government shutdown in stride. However, a greater threat is on the horizon if the partisan divide deepens and lawmakers stumble again by refusing to raise the debt limit by a midmonth deadline, leading to default.
