Government shutdown may delay BRAIN initiative

A $100 million White House initiative to map the human brain has become the latest casualty of the budget impasse, which may delay the program. The Brain Research Through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies initiative is due to launch next year. "The government shutdown will very definitely affect BRAIN -- will bring it to a complete halt in fact," said initiative co-chair Bill Newsome of Stanford University.
