Immigration courts feel the impact of government shutdown

Immigration courts across the country were affected by the government shutdown Tuesday, as 7 in 10 employees were furloughed, according to the National Association of Immigration Judges. Cases could be affected by lengthy delays in the court system, according to Gregory Chen of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. "For people waiting for a decision, such as an asylum seeker, their case could be severely disadvantaged if they have to wait such a long time," he said.
