India's oil firms accused of delaying ethanol orders

Despite issuing a second ethanol-supply tender this year, oil companies are still unlikely to meet India's E5 standard because they are taking too much time to place orders, a sugar industry official said. Oil companies should have sent the orders by now to give sugar mills enough time to plan their crushing and production schedule. "Any further delay in opening the price bids and placing orders on the ethanol manufacturers ... may result in diversion of the ethanol for exports in the form of extra neutral alcohol or molasses itself," the official said.
