N.Y. regulator wants more uniformity in homeowners policies

Homeowners insurance companies should offer greater uniformity among policies to help customers better understand their coverage, says Benjamin Lawsky, superintendent of New York's Department of Financial Services. "There's room for greater standardization. We're doing it for health insurance, and we need to ask, 'Why not move in the same direction for homeowners policies?' " Lawsky said.
